On June 6, 1993, the Vermont State Firefighters' Association established an educational scholarship fund to be named the George S. Gibby Scholarship Fund, in recognition of his unselfish , tireless efforts to assist fire-rescue personnel who which to pursue careers related to the fire service.
To be eligible to receive a scholarship, the applicant must:
Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Hold active membership for a minimum of one year in the VSFA.
Demonstrate financial need and academic worthiness.
Submit a letter of recommendation/accomplishment from a supervisor or chief officer.
Plan to enter or continue in a collegiate program related to fire science and/or emergency medical services.
Completed applications must be received by the scholarship Fund Trustees no later than June 15th to be considered for the following academic year. The number and amount of scholarships will be determined each year by the Trustees of the Scholarship Fund.
